The Ultimaker 2 is really a great looking 3D printer. Unfortunately, its performance needs some fine-tuning and the price tag is way too high for most consumers.

The Ultimaker 2 is one of the most compact 3D printer that has one of the largest print platform. This means it can print very large object of up to 9.1 by 8.9 by 8.1 inches (23 by 22.5 by 20.5 cm).

The well-built printer is looks good while remaining, quite simple. It's basically a box that measures 14.1 by 13.5 by 15.3 inches (35.7 by 34.2 by 38.8cm) with a print platform in the middle and a print-head on top.

The Ultimaker 2 uses standard filaments and comes included with a 1.7 lbs (0.75kg) spool, enough for you to print a lot of objects.

The printer's filament intake is also placed on the back, near the spool holder.

The printer comes with a nice LED light which illuminates the inside. You have options to change the brightness, as well as when to set the light on.

From the top down, it's clear that the printer has very little empty space surrounding its print platform. This is how it manages to be so compact.

The printer has a small LCD and a dial button to control its functions. It can only print from an SD card, however.

As a single-extruder, the Ultimaker 2 can print only one color at a time. Here's the close-up of its print-head.
