Toshiba Satellite L630 & NB250: Little and littler

Toshiba's just reached into its burgeoning sack-o-laptops and pulled out a couple of crackers. One is a 13.3-inch business-oriented machine known as the Satellite Pro L630 and the other is a 10.1-inch netbook called the NB250.

The Satellite Pro L630 is aimed ostensibly at people who wear suits and bark orders at quivering subordinates. Its 13.3-inch display has a 1,366x768-pixel resolution, while under its glossy black facade lie an Intel Core i3 CPU, 2GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive loaded with Windows 7 and a battery capable of sustaining 5 hours of use.

The NB250, meanwhile, is aimed at the aforementioned subordinates. Its 10.1-inch screen runs at the standard 1,024x600 pixels, but instead of the usual N450 chip, it gets an Intel Atom N455 -- which is pretty much identical aside from its support for DDR3 memory.

Toshiba says the NB250 will deliver 8 hours of battery life and will have 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 and three USB ports -- one of which doubles as an eSATA port.

We've no idea how much either of these machines will cost, but they'll be out towards the end of June. Keep your eyes peeled for a full review of both in the near future.

The Satellite Pro L630 looks pretty chunky, but it makes great use of its extra girth with an HDMI port and a USB port that doubles as eSATA.

We're not really feeling the half-height return key, but the rest of the keyboard looks sound as a pound.

The NB250 netbook's battery juts out somewhat, but if it delivers 8 hours of life as promised, we'll let that one slide.

It's small, it's black, yup -- it's a netbook, alright. Toshiba reckons it'll tip the scales at 1.2Kg, which is about the norm.
