Top notch colors from the GE Reveal BR30 LED (pictures)

With a focus on color rendering and an attractive price point, this floodlight is one of our favorite bulbs in the lighting aisle.

The GE Reveal BR30 LED uses 12 watts to put out 630 lumens at a color temperature of 2,752 K.

Long-term lighting

Like most LEDs, the GE Reveal BR30 is designed to last for a long time. At an average usage of three hours per day, GE claims it should last well over twenty years -- and backs that claim up with a 10-year warranty on each bulb.

Color quality

The GE Reveal puts color quality front and center, with a boosted CRI score of 90. That means it'll  make colors look more vivid and accurate than other LEDs.

Dimmable range

The GE Reveal (bulb three in this lineup) dims cleanly from 100 percent down to 5 percent.

Flicker-free

Perhaps more importantly, the GE Reveal didn't flicker at all on any of the dimmer switches we tested it out on. In this GIF, the GE Reveal is dimmed down to 50 percent on a Leviton dimmer switch, and every frame looks the same.

Heat management

The GE Reveal also excelled in our heat management tests, with its brightness dipping less over time than any other BR30 LED we tested.

The bottom line

The GE Reveal now sells for $18 at Home Depots nationwide -- or less, if you live in a region that offers rebates on Energy Star-qualified light bulbs. Does that make this bulb a best buy? Read our full review to find out.
