This small device smartens your remote-controlled ceiling fans
Bond is a $99 disc that connects remote-controlled ceiling fans to your Amazon Alexa or Google Home platform and lets you lose that remote for good.
Bond for ceiling fans
This $99 small black disc connects remote-controlled ceiling fans to smart home platforms Amazon Alexa and Google Home. It also creates a remote control on your phone, via the Bond app.
Connecting the Bond to your home
Connect to the Bond Wi-Fi, then return to the Bond app to connect to your home's Wi-Fi network.
Controlling multiple fans with the Bond
The Bond can control up to six ceiling fans at once with one Bond unit. You'll see each unit displayed on the Bond app home screen.
TheBond replaces your existing remote
Follow in-app instructions to pair your ceiling fan's existing remote with the Bond. In order to build your mobile remote, you'll pair each function button on your fan's remote with the Bond.
Using the Bond as a remote control
Once button functions are paired and tested, you can use the Bond as a remote control for your ceiling fan.
Remote control compatbility
The Bond works with IR and RF remote controls. Most ceilings fan remotes use RF technology. If your ceiling fan remote uses IR, you'll need to be sure that the Bond and your original remote have a clear line of sight in order to pair the successfully.
Bond works with Alexa
The Bond skill for Amazon Alexa allows you to control your ceiling fan with voice commands like "Alexa, turn on the basement fan."
Future devices
The Bond is currently only compatible with remote-controlled ceiling fans. The team at the Bond's parent company, Olibra, say the device will soon be able to control several other types of common household devices. Evidence of future devices is visible on the current Bond app version.
Bond's external design
The Bond device is a small round puck with power cable in the rear and an LED light ring on top to indicate connection and pairing status. The Bond is currently available in black only.
Bond for Google Home
Select Bond Smart Home under the Home Control tab, then log into your Bond account to link the two services. With Bond linked, you can use Google voice commands like "OK, Google, turn on the basement fan" to control your ceiling fan.
