This Pro range needs some practice (pictures)

Kenmore 72583 is a gas range from the brand's Pro line of appliances. But this 30-inch-wide stainless-steel model needs a little work.

Ashlee Clark Thompson
Ashlee spent time as a newspaper reporter, AmeriCorps VISTA and an employee at a healthcare company before she landed at CNET. She loves to eat, write and watch "Golden Girls" (preferably all three at the same time). The first two hobbies help her out as an appliance reviewer. The last one makes her an asset to trivia teams. Ashlee also created the blog, AshleeEats.com, where she writes about casual dining in Louisville, Kentucky.

The range's oven capacity is 5.1 cubic feet, which is a bit smaller than other comparable ovens.

During the broiling tests, the burgers in the middle cooked faster than the ones on the edges because they cooked right beneath the broiler. This could be problematic if you are cooking one big dish and want even cooking.

The pictures on the left show one round of biscuits that I baked using the convection fan of the oven (the biscuits in the top left picture baked on a higher rack than the biscuits in the bottom left picture). The photos on the right are color representations of the browning of the biscuits.
