Dyson heats things up with the very cool AM09 (pictures)

Capable of blowing both hot and cold, this latest, greatest air multiplier won't come cheap.

Dyson AM09 Hot+Cold

Dyson's newest air multiplier is an upgraded take on the original Dyson Hot, and can blow both hot and cold for year-round climate control. Click through for a closer look.

Remote control

Like previous air multipliers, the AM09 comes with a handy remote that nestles magnetically on top of the fan when not in use.

Temperature management

In heating mode, you can adjust the fan's intensity, as well as the target temperature. If the temperature rises above the target, the heater will shut off until it drops back down again.

Cooling mode

You won't be able to set a target temperature in cooling mode, though.

Airfoil design

Airfoils have always been the air multiplier's secret weapon, channeling the air from the base's fan out at the perfect angle. The AM09 lets you adjust that angle between two options -- a new feature.

Wide mode

The first is a wide-angled mode meant for even coverage across an entire room.

Focused mode

The second mode offers a tighter, more focused stream of air that's better suited for spot coverage.

Price point

The AM09 will retail for $450 (£295/AU$585, converted roughly). That's $50 more than the original Dyson Hot retailed for, and quite a bit more than most space heaters on the market. Of course, few of those other space heaters boast space-age looks, or the Dyson name...

Does that justify the splurge? Read our full review to find out.
