Scanning to unlock
Aside from its obvious increase in size, one other big feature of the Max is a fingerprint scanner located on the back of the device. Similar to the Apple iPhone 5S' Touch ID, users can scan up to three different fingerprints to unlock their Max handsets.
Removable battery door
Though its 3,300mAh battery remains non-removable, one major difference about the Max compared to the rest of the One line is that its back side can be detached via a toggle button on the right edge of the device. This enables users access to the expandable microSD card slot.
Expansive 1080p display
The Max's 5.9-inch display (shown here in the middle with the HTC One to the left and the Mini to its right) boasts full HD 1080p resolution and a sharp 367ppi.
Snapdragon 600 inside
Powering this mammoth smartphone is a 1.7GHz Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor. Though its CPU is still top-notch, it's the same CPU that powers the HTC One. The handset also includes 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.
A peek at the dimensions
The One Max measures 6.5 inches tall, 3.3 inches wide, 0.4 inches thick, and weighs a whopping 7.7 ounces. In contrast, the 5.7-inch Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is thinner, lighter, and more compact at 6 inches tall, 3.1 inches wide, 0.33 inches thick, and only 5.9 ounces in weight.
Controlling your Sense TV
In addition to a 3.5mm headphone jack (right), the Max also has an IR blaster located on its top edge. Also found in the One, the infrared sensor turns the handset into a remote control and enables users to navigate through Sense TV.
The new Sense 5.5 UI
The Max will ship with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and the most recent HTC Sense 5.5 user interface. New software UI features include the ability to save articles offline from the native Internet browser, Instagram integration, sharable Zoe photos, and a "Do Not Disturb" function that allows users to silence their phones and turn off notifications at a predetermined time.
Dual speakers and camera
Just like the One, the Max features a 2.1-megapixel camera above the display, as well as dual front-facing speakers.
Same 4-Ultrapixel camera
Rear-facing camera specs also remained the same. The smartphone sports a 4-"Ultrapixel" camera and LED flash.
One happy family
