A maxed out display

The Motorola Droid Maxx's 5-inch screen uses OLED technology for vividly saturated colors and high-contrast. Its 720p resolution lacks the pixel count of full HD 1020p displays though.

Kevlar fiber kung-fu grip

Like the Droids before it, the Maxx's back is coated in a soft-touch but tough Kevlar fiber surface. Also here is the phone's main 10MP camera.

Not too plump

Besides rocking a mega 3,500 mAh battery, the Droid Maxx is just 0.34 inch thick.

Not many controls

The Motorola Droid Maxx only has physical controls on its right side, a volume bar plus a power key. Both are conveniently cross-hatched for extra texture.

USB on the bottom

On the bottom lip of the Motorola Droid Maxx is its micro USB port, right where it aught to be.

A booming speaker

The Maxx features a large speaker on the back which gets pretty darn loud, louder than the HTC One's BoomSound external audio system.

This camera is streamlined

With the same paired-down camera app on the Moto X and Droid Ultra, the Maxx's shooter snaps pics using a simplified settings menu.

Grab a smartphone handful

The Motorola Droid Maxx's big size makes it a lot of smartphone to hold. Thankfully its Kevlar fiber coating offers a secure grip.
