The Dell Inspiron 15R's lid removes with the press of a rear button and some gentle but firm sliding. It took us quite a few times to figure it out. When on, the lid feels solid and doesn't slide. You can see, though, that even with the lid off, the rear of the Inspiron 15R is still enclosed.
