The Huawei P10, Leica's picture pal

The P10 is about the same size as the original P9 with the same 1,920x1,080 display, but upgrades its screen from Gorilla Glass 3 to 5.

The P10 Plus has a 5.5-inch WQHD display while the P10 (shown here) has a 5.1-inch, 2,540x1,440 screen. The Plus also has a greater battery capacity 3,750 mAh compared with the P10's 3,200-mAh battery.

The company moved the fingerprint sensor from the back to beneath the display.

In addition to fingerprint recognition, you can swipe the pad for navigation.

You can also press and hold the sensor to use it as a Home button.

Like the P9, the P10 models have dual Leica cameras. They're the same as the Mate 9's - 20 megapixels, f2.2 and 27mm.

The expanded set of camera modes includes time lapse, light painting and slow motion.

Huawei uses its dual cameras for an increased luminance range rather than zoom. The luminance capture process is central to black-and-white photography.

New algorithms allow the cameras to recognize and isolate faces for better simulated background defocus in portraits.
