The FortrezZ Sensor offers flimsy flood protection (pictures)
Despite modest aspirations, the Water and Temperature Sensor fails to live up to its name.
The FortrezZ Water and Temperature Sensor is easy to install, and monitors the presence of water in areas of the home at risk of flooding.
Setting up the Sensor is as easy as popping in two AA batteries and screwing the plastic body together. It'll take a few minutes, but it's simple.
The FortrezZ Sensor uses Z-Wave protocols to communicate, meaning you'll have to already own a SmartThings Hub, Piper NV or another Z-Wave gateway.
The Water and Temperature Sensor comes in two different models: one is watertight, and the other features a chirping alarm when it senses water.
The body of the FortrezZ is small enough to fit in most nooks and crannies susceptible to flooding or burst pipes. Just aim the probes down.
The two probes, or leads, on the bottom of the FortrezZ detect water by sensing increased conductivity between them.
The FortrezZ Water and Temperature Sensor is available online for $50 (converted, about £30 and AU$65). Check out our full review to see what we thought of the Sensor.
