The Acer Iconia A1-830 looks surprisingly dapper (pictures)

Cheap tablets usually cheap out on design aesthetics as well. Not so with Acer's new 8-inch Android tablet.

Slight bezel

LAS VEGAS -- The 830's most striking quality is its ultrathin bezels. Sure, a 1,024x768 resolution on a 7.9-inch screen doesn't make for the sharpest images in the world, but at least the actual tablet looks pretty stylish.

Grills

Dual speaker grills indicate that the 830's sound capability will at least be decent.

Charge

The headphone jack and next to it, the Micro-USB port for charging. Also, here's a good look at just how thin the tablet is.

Expansion

The MicroSD storage expansion slot extends the somewhat piddly 16GB of storage by up to an additional 32GB.

I Got an Early Look at Intel's Glass Packaging Tech for Faster Chips
Rahul Manepalli, right, Intel's module engineering leader, shows a glass substrate panel before it's sliced into the small rectangles that will be bonded to the undersides of hundreds of test processors. The technology, shown here at Intel's CH8 facility in Chandler, Arizona, stands to improve performance and power consumption of advanced processors arriving later this decade. Glass substrates should permit physically larger processors comprised of several small "chiplets" for AI and data center work, but Intel expects they'll trickle down to PCs, too.
