Happy Star Wars Day! It's believed that the earliest reference to May the Fourth dates back to May 4, 1979, the day Margaret Thatcher took office as prime minister in the UK, according to the official Lucasfilm Star Wars site. Her party took out a half-page advertisement in the London Evening News with the message: "May the Fourth Be With You, Maggie. Congratulations."
If you want to show off your Force this Star Wars Day, check out these cool accessories from ThinkGeek. A lot of them will be on sale due to May 4, so prices may be lower than usual. This Death Star Bluetooth speaker, for example, has been marked down from $59.99 to $47.99.
If you prefer a larger version of frozen Han Solo, this rug imprisons everyone's favourite scruffy-looking Nerf herder in rugs as large as 39 x 90.5 inches. Walk all over Han for prices between $39.99 and $59.99.
These R2-D2 measuring cups won't communicate with your stove or fridge to make you lunch, but they will help you bake like a Jedi Master. The body comes with four measuring cups, and the arms detach into nested measuring spoons. The plucky ThinkGeek set usually goes for $19.99, but is currently selling for $15.99.
If you're going to let R2-DR measure your ingredients, you might as well turn them into snacks a droid would love. This $14.99 set of six cookie cutters will give you treats in the shapes Darth Vader, Boba Fett, Chewbacca, Yoda, C-3PO and a Stormtrooper. For May the Fourth, they're selling for a few dollars less than usual.
