Spotlight on the Spotter (pictures)
Quirky teamed up with GE to bring you this affordable multipurpose sensor -- come and take a closer look.
Five senses
Despite being so compact and lightweight, the Spotter houses sensors for light, sound, temperature, humidity, and motion.
AC power
The Spotter comes with an AC power cable -- just plug it in, and you'll be ready to go.
Battery power, too
The Spotter can also run off of two AA batteries. However, you'll only be able to track changes in light and motion while in battery mode.
Mounts with ease
The Spotter is magnetic. You can also use mounting screws or sticky tabs to secure it in place, or just set it on a shelf.
More than just a light
The house-shaped, multicolored LED light on the front of the Spotter will tell you the status of the device. You'll also use the built-in photocell to link the Spotter to your home network.
Quirky's brain and GE's brawn
The Spotter is a product of the budding relationship between Quirky and GE -- one of the first of many products slated for release in the coming months.
Flash to connect
Using Quirky's Wink app, your smartphone's screen will flash a quick pattern of light at the Spotter, connecting it to your home network within seconds.
An elegant, intelligent app
The Wink app is well-designed, with easy controls, helpful information, and an attractive interface.
Easy to program
Once you've got your Spotter up and running, programming automations and alerts is a cinch.
An attractive price point
The Spotter retails for $49.99, which is less than you'll pay for some devices that only track one or two things.
