Sony unveils latest Cybershots, Vaios and Handycams

Sony hosted a product showcase at Carriageworks in Sydney's innner west yesterday, with the latest Handycam camcorders, Vaio notebooks and Cyber-shot digital cameras on display.

While the CR series is already available in black, white, red, a champagne-hued "platinum pearl", "premium carbon", and a fairy-floss pink, the newest iteration adds "lizard skin" (pictured bottom front) to the mix.

The Vaio VGN-LJ25G, available in black, white or gold. The keyboard now folds up onto the monitor, with software displaying either time/temperature, or what song is currently playing on the remaining screen space. The diminutive TZ series is on the right.

Sony's W series includes the entry-level W110 and W120 models as well as the W150 which features a 5x optical zoom, and the W300 with a whopping 13.6 megapixel resolution.

Sony's Smile Shutter function takes face detection one step further, refusing to take the photo until the subject smiles. We've tested this feature on other Cyber-shot models and found its ability to correctly identify smiles varies widely -- we look forward to seeing if this latest incarnation has improved the technology.

Sony has entered the digital photo frame market with its 7-inch model to be released in May. Featuring a 800x480 WVGA resolution with 15:9 aspect ratio, the DPF-D70 includes 256MB of built-in memory and comes with a remote control.
