Our mums always told us to wear clean underwear just in case we're hit by a bus -- but we focus on clean fingernails, because we never know when we're going to hand-model a sexy new phone like the Sony Ericsson Vivaz.
We couldn't test the HD video on this pre-production version of the Vivaz, which promises 720p video recording on its 8-megapixel camera. But we did have a wander through its Symbian S60-based user interface and caressed the curves of its slim, 13mm case.

Despite the blur, it's clear that the Vivaz uses the Symbian S60 operating system, so the menus will be familiar if you've used Sony Ericsson or Nokia smart phones in the past.

The 8-megapixel camera had plenty of options on board, including a full-auto setting so you don't have to touch anything if you don't want to. Unfortunately we couldn't test the quality of the photos it takes, but on this early model of the Vivaz, the camera was easy to use and fast.

The Vivaz is slim and rounded, and it felt compact and comfortable to hold -- with more style than the similar Sony Ericsson Satio.

With Symbian on board, the Viviz will have smart phone features such as support for Microsoft Exchange email and apps.

The Vivaz has a standard 3.5mm headphone socket, so you can use your own cans -- and Sony Ericsson has a good track record with music phones, so expect top-quality sound, too.
