Sony Cyber-shot TX200V, WX50, and WX70 (photos)

Get a quick look at Sony's $500 ultracompact, the TX200V, and its two more-traditional-looking compacts, the WX70 and WX50.

Sony Cyber-shot TX200V

Sony gave the Sony TX200V a reinforced glass front for no good reason other than design.

There are some physical controls on top, but everything else is handled with the touch-screen OLED display. The camera is waterproof to 16 feet and dust- and freezeproof.

The screen is 3.3 inches with a 16:9 aspect ratio. No battery was in the camera, so I couldn't see just how good the 1.2-million-dot-resolution OLED screen was.

You can see the zoom toggle just there on the top corner for the internal 5x zoom lens.

The camera is very small and lightweight and loaded with all of Sony's latest point-and-shoot technologies, including a ridiculous 18-megapixel resolution Exmor R CMOS sensor.

Sony Cyber-shot WX70

The WX70 is for people who like their cameras to look like cameras. It is nearly identical to 2011's WX9, but with some new shooting options and enhanced low-light performance (at least according to Sony).

Specs include 16-megapixel cameras with Exmor R backside-illuminated CMOS sensors, 5x f2.6-6.3 25-125mm lenses, and a 3-inch 921K-dot-resolution touch-screen LCD.

Its size isn't that much different than the TX200V's, but its lens extends from the body.

There's a Mini-HDMI port there on the side.

The WX50 is nearly identical to WX70.

In fact, the only difference--other than fewer body color choices--is its screen. The WX50 has a 2.7-inch 460K-dot-resolution LCD, and since it's not a touch screen, you get physical controls on back.
