Sony A6300 hasn't changed much physically from A6000 (pictures)

With a few exceptions, the A6300 looks and feels very similar to its predecessor.

Lori Grunin
I've been reviewing hardware and software, devising testing methodology and handed out buying advice for what seems like forever; I'm currently absorbed by computers and gaming hardware, but previously spent many years concentrating on cameras. I've also volunteered with a cat rescue for over 15 years doing adoptions, designing marketing materials, managing volunteers and, of course, photographing cats.

A bit weightier

Though the body has a little less volume, it's still a few ounces/about 70 grams heavier than the A6000. That shouldn't make a difference, though.

Display

The LCD hasn't changed from the A6000.

Mic jack

Sony added a microphone jack to the camera; the A6000 used the hot shoe for add-on mics.

Same bad spot

The record button hasn't moved from its awkward location.

Back

The biggest change here is the autoexposure/autofocus and manual/autofocus switch, which the A6300 inherits from other A series cameras.

Mode dial

The mode dial is more streamlined, with fewer automatic mode variations and two direct-access custom settings.
