A cloudy day in SF town

I take the LG Nexus 4's 8-megapixel camera to the not-so-mean streets of San Francisco to see how it holds up. Here, this water fountain is in focus and crisp, even though this photo wasn't taken on the sunniest of days.

Invisible friend!

Still using the rear-facing 8-megapixel lens (because no one wanted to hang out with me), the Nexus 4's camera washed out my face.

Rock out with CNET

It was Halloween here at CNET (hence the wave from a hard-core '80s hair-band member), and the Nexus 4 captures our lower lobby with accurate color hues.

We all actually say tomato

Unlike the cameras from the Samsung Galaxy S3 and AT&T's LG Optimus G, colors don't necessarily "pop" out in saturated tones. Instead, they remain true to life, which means in some cases, they're still dull.

Deliciously displayed

Each string bean here is well-defined with distinct edges.

Lovely white petals

The auto white balance on the Nexus 4's camera is impressively accurate.

Get back to work

Low-lit indoor shots are understandably grainier.

Puck stops here

The grains of sand on this shuffleboard table are hard to make out.

Catching a break

In this indoor shot of our breakroom, the dark hues on the lower-right corner are hard to distinguish.

Sitting around

You can really see the noticeable amount of digital noise against the walls and seats in this dim indoor picture.

Post SF Giants parade

Here, moving cars in the background are in focus, but once again, dark hues are hard to discern.
