Scenes from CES 2015 -- Press Day

On the biggest news day of the show, we saw an endless parade of phones, cameras, TVs and Internet-connected everythings. Here are some of the highlights from Press Day at CES 2015.

Jennifer Guevin
Jennifer Guevin was a managing editor at CNET, overseeing the ever-helpful How To section, special packages and front-page programming. As a writer, she gravitated toward science, quirky geek culture stories, robots and food. In real life, she mostly just gravitates toward food.

Lenovo Yoga Tab 2 with AnyPen

We're not sure why you'd want to use a knife as a stylus. But with the Lenovo Yoga Tab 2 with AnyPen, you can grab the nearest pocket knife, key, screwdriver, fork or just about any other metal object and turn it into a makeshift input device.

CES is always a showcase for cutting-edge displays, and this year is no different. Samsung's 105-inch SUHD TV was one of today's highlights. It goes from flat to curved at the touch of a button.

Mercedes-Benz

This self-driving concept car, called the F 015 Luxury in Motion, was shown at the Mercedes-Benz press event today. As our writer, Wayne Cunningham, said, "This concept meets just about every expectation of future cars, except flying."

Crashing the BMW i3

We tried our hardest to crash this BMW i3. But its ActiveAssist system just wouldn't let us hit that barrier no matter how hard we tried.

Lamborghini 88 Tauri

Ever wonder what a $6,000 phone looks like? Yeah, we didn't either. But we found today anyway. The Torino Lamborghini 88 Tauri is the latest smartphone from the famous car-maker. We put our filthy paws all over it.

Panasonic Lumix CM1

Panasonic doesn't officially consider it a phone at all, instead calling it a "communication camera." But we think the Panasonic Lumix CM1 just might be the ultimate photography phone.

Its metal and leather-effect rubber body houses a huge 1-inch sensor that delivers 20-megapixel shots in JPEG and raw, it uses a 28mm Leica lens and offers full manual control of settings.

Carpets of CES

Press Day is a nonstop rush from one press conference to the next. By the end, well, people start to get a little punchy. One CNET photographer started shooting a mesmerizing photo series of the carpets he encountered around town. This is how we cope.
