Apple's HomePod is a smart speaker for your home

Like the Amazon Echo and Google Home, the Apple HomePod sports LEDs on top that let you know when it's paying attention.

The distinctive triangular cross-hatch pattern runs the full length of the HomePod speaker.

Apple's new HomePod smart speaker will come in a space gray finish in addition to white.

Running the show inside the Apple HomePod will be an A8 mobile processor.

Along with a robust A8 processor, inside the Apple HomePod are seven speakers plus a subwoofer for directional sound. 

The Apple HomePod will be a gateway to Apple's universe of apps and services all accessible through your voice and the Siri AI assistant.

The Apple HomePod is designed to hunt down answers to your questions when you ask it to.

The Apple HomePod will be able to know when you're talking to it and where you are in the room.

With the relatively steep price compared with the Amazon Echo, Echo Dot and Google Home, the $249 Apple won't come cheap. 

Among other features, Apple discussed a spatial awareness feature that can shape the audio output based on the shape a room.
