Samsung at CTIA 2009
Samsung held a press conference on the eve of CTIA 2009 where the company unveiled its Samsung Mondi and Samusng Instinct s30. The Samsung Propel Pro was also on display.
Samsung Propel Pro
The Samsung Propel Pro was actually announced a couple of days before CTIA and will be available from AT&T starting April 1 for $149.99 with a two-year contract. Similar to the Samsung Propel, it's a messaging-centric device but ships with Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard Edition. Other highlights include 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Adobe Flash Lite support.
Slider design
The Propel Pro features a slider design and has a 2.55-inch, 320x320-pixel non-touch display. The smartphone has a very attractive silver-and-chrome finish but holds a lot of smudges and fingerprints. In its closed state, the Propel Pro has a squarish shape and measures 3.9 inches high by 2.4 inches wide by 0.6 inch deep and weighs 4.8 ounces.
QWERTY keyboard
We had some hands-on time with the Samsung Propel Pro and it's QWERTY keyboard was OK. The buttons were fairly large but the layout is a little cramped so users with large thumbs might have problems. The smartphone supports a number of e-mail solutions, though, including Microsoft Direct Push, POP3/IMAP4, and XpressMail, and includes instant messaging clients and threaded text messages.
Camera
The smartphone comes equipped with a 3-megapixel camera with video recording capabilities.
Left side
On the left side of the smartphone, there's a microSD expansion slot that accepts up to 8GB cards. There's 128MB RAM/256MB ROM of flash memory.
