Samsung Hennessy and Folder: two dual-screen phones leak

Two Samsung dual-screen phones have leaked, though it's not certain whether they'll make it to the UK or not.

Samsung is bringing back dual-screen mobiles, with not one but two models leaking. And one of them is a flip phone too. A flip phone! It's like it's 2003 or something.

Let's start with the flip model. It's called the Samsung Folder, and while news first leaked about it a couple of weeks ago, some more pics have just surfaced over at the Clien.net forums.

The screen is double-sided, so you can use the phone whether it's open or closed. On one side, there's a 3.7-inch AMOLED display, with a resolution of 800x400 pixels. Inside, it's got a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, and supports 4G LTE. There's also a USB port, a Micro-Sim slot, and GPS.

The Samsung Folder is due for release sometime this month, though there's no word on whether it'll make it to these shores.

Now. The Samsung Hennessy. Chinese site Blog of Mobile reports the Hennessy will have two 3.3-inch screens, both with resolutions of 320x480 pixels. But it's no slouch on the software side. It runs Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, which isn't the latest version, but isn't exactly ancient either. Inside is a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 1GB of RAM, and 1GB storage. It has a 5-megapixel camera on the back, too.

Not exactly world-changing specs, but there's worse out there.

Seeing as both of these phones were spotted by blogs based in the Far East, we might never see them here in Blighty. Nevertheless, it's good to see at least one phone maker isn't scared to try something new. Or old, even. Either way, it's a bit of a departure from identikit black rectangles, and for that I applaud you, Samsung.

Would you like flip phones to make a comeback? Do you miss proper keypads? Which was your favourite phone design? Let me know in the comments, or on our Facebook page.
