We've been lucky enough to get our hands on a new Galaxy S III handset today, and we thought we'd share the excitement of peeling back the plastic wrapping with everyone.

A smartphone with the works

This protective plastic wrapper says it all: Super HD AMOLED, Android, quad-core CPU, NFC. This is a lot of tech inside one smartphone handset.

Digging deeper

In the box with the phone, you get the usual array of plugs and papers, including stereo headphones with hands-free, charger accessories and a MobileMuster bag to recycle your old phone.

Marble white

Our review unit is the marble-white variant, though Samsung has assured us that the Blue version will be in stores within a week's time.

Slim Jim

Even with all the tech below this screen, the Galaxy S III is still a very slim and sleek device.

Help centre

When powering up the Galaxy S III for the first time, users will be met by a number of tooltip screens, showing them where all of the most commonly used elements live, and how to interact with them.

This is the new, expanded settings menu in the App Drawer for the phone, offering shortcuts to uninstall apps and jump onto the Play Store to download more.

Aussie apps

On this screen, you can see a few of the apps pre-installed for the Australian market. Of particular interest is the new Quickflix app, bringing its movie-subscription service to the Galaxy S III.
