Samsung Galaxy Ace stacks the deck in hands-on photos

The Samsung Galaxy Ace may have the cheeky look of an iPhone 4 wannabe, but inside it's all Android. The Ace is one of the better-looking examples of a medium-sized smart phone from Samsung, with a glossy, plastic face and a grippy, textured back.

The Ace has Android 2.2 Froyo on board, which isn't quite the latest version of Android -- we'll be on Android 2.4 Gingerbread by springtime -- but it still has all of the important smart phone features. These includes good email support, a plethora of Google apps like Maps, and access to heaps more on the Android Market.

The Ace keeps all that power ticking over with an 800MHz processor. Although that's far from the dual-core furnace that drives the Samsung Galaxy S 2, in person the Ace still feels zippy and responsive. 

The 3.5-inch screen also looks reasonably sharp and vivid, thanks to a 320x480 pixel resolution. Combined with the solid-feeling case, it makes the Ace feel well-made and stylish.

The Ace also doesn't skimp on connectivity, with support for the lastest 802.11n Wi-Fi and 7.2Mbps HSDPA for fast downloads over 3G.
