Samsung Captivate
Fast, feature-packed, and entertaining, the Samsung Captivate finally brings a high-end Android smartphone to AT&T's lineup. It will be available starting July 18 for $199.99 with a two-year contract.
Design
The Captivate isn't the sexiest device, but it feels much more solid than the Samsung Vibrant. The real star of the device, however, is the 4-inch Super AMOLED touch screen. Aside from being sharp and brilliant, it's also responsive, viewable outdoors, and has wider viewing angles.
Buttons and UI
The Captivate features Samsung's TouchWiz 3.0 user interface and also has four touch-sensitive buttons below the display: menu, home, back, and search.
Right side
The right side has a power/lock button. We would have liked to see a dedicated camera activation/capture button as well.
Top view
On top of the device, you'll find a 3.5mm headphone jack and a Micro-USB port.
Camera
The Captivate features a 5-megapixel camera with HD video capture and advanced editing options, such as ISO settings, smile and blink detection, and antishake.
Picture quality
However, without a flash, pictures taken indoors came out a bit dull. There is a party/indoor scene mode, as well as one for night, but it didn't make a huge difference in photo quality.
