An Android camera that prints
LAS VEGAS -- It started off as a concept, but by later this year (and I mean later) the Socialmatic camera will exist. Instead of ink-jet prints, the 14-megapixel camera will spit out Polaroid's Zink (zero ink) prints. With built-in Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth, and running on Android, the camera will also be able to share shots straight to social networks.
SD card slot
The camera has 4GB of internal storage for pictures, but should you want to print photos from a another camera, the Socialmatic has a full-size SD card slot.
Zink printer
On the right is the opening for the camera's Zink inkless printer. It uses 2x3-inch Zink instant paper, which creates decidedly lo-fi prints.
4.5-inch touch screen, rear camera, and speakers
For navigating the camera and Android apps, the Socialmatic will have a 4.5-inch touch screen on back. Above it will be a 2-megapixel rear camera and below it, stereo speakers.
Availability
If you were thinking this might be fun for this summer, you're out of luck. Polaroid says the camera won't be available till fall 2014 and, when it does arrive, it'll cost $299.
