Plant your own Ewok village (photos)

They're cute, fuzzy, and lethal to Stormtroopers. They're Ewoks, and in the third and final installment of our Crave series on Star Wars-themed crafts, we show you how to make an Ewok village-themed flower vase.

Ewok vase materials

The Ewok Village flower vase is one of the fun and simple Star Wars projects detailed in ""="">Bonnie Burton's "The Star Wars Craft Book." And at $10.50 or so for supplies, you're not exactly going to break the bank on this one.

The glass jar from your recycle bin and the twigs are free. White yarn or string won't cost you more than $4; a quarter yard of brown felt will run you $2; beige and gray felt squares cost about $1 each; a packet of pipe cleaners goes for about $2; and googly eyes are $1.50 or so.

If you don't have a glue gun, get one. A gun and glue sticks will cost around $12 total.

Also, scissors

And scissors! It ought to go without saying, but scissors are an essential tool for any crafty plan.

Twig trimming

Once you're all set with your supplies, trim the twigs off of your branch. You want them to be about the length of the glass jar that will form the base of the vase.

Can you feel it?

Then cut the brown felt to size and glue it to the jar. It ought to be long enough to wrap around the jar.

Weaving your creation

Next, cut three strands of yarn or string and weave them in between the twigs.

Fit to be tied

Tie off the string in the back of the vase.

Securing the forest

For extra support, you can spot-glue the forest to the vase.

Lots of little Ewoks

Cut out as many little Ewoks as you can handle from the felt pieces, and glue the pieces together. Be sure to include a spear so their natural Ewok fierceness shines through.
