Photos: T-Mobile Dash (a.k.a. HTC Excalibur)
The T-Mobile Dash (a.k.a. HTC Excalibur) generated a lot of buzz before its release for a couple of reasons. First, it had the greatest potential for being a Motorola Q killer, and second, it looked pretty darn ugly. But is this ugly duckling really a swan? Here is a collection of photos of the smart phone; you be the judge.
The T-Mobile Dash has a look similar to BlackBerrys, but has merits of its own. The smart phone features a soft-touch finish and curved edges, making it very comfortable to hold.
Though it may not seem like it from the picture, the T-Mobile Dash is actually a very attractive phone in person.
Here is the left side of the T-Mobile Dash. It's a hair thicker than the Motorola Q, but it's still a slim device overall.
There's a mini USB jack on the bottom of the device for connecting to your PC. This is where you can also plug in the included pair of earbuds for rocking out to tunes.
On the back of the Dash, you will find the 1.3-megapixel camera and self-portrait mirror. There's also a Micro SD slot hiding behind the battery cover.
See, it's not as clunky and ugly as you might think. The T-Mobile Dash is compact enough to fit in the palm of your hand.
And you'll have no problem slipping this sleek device into your bag or purse for all you on-the-go types.
We found the T-Mobile Dash easy to use one-handed, and it has a good set of external controls for navigating the menus.
The T-Mobile Dash features a decent keyboard with tactile buttons and bright backlighting. That said, it's a bit cramped, so we definitely give the Motorola Q props for its spacious keyboard.
Here is the T-Mobile Dash next to the Motorola Q. At 4.4 by 2.5 by 0.5 inches, the Dash is shorter than the Q, which measures 4.5 by 2.5 by 0.4 inches, but it's also just a hair thicker than the famed Moto smart phone.
The T-Mobile Dash features an innovative touch strip for adjusting the device's volume. However, we weren't big fans of the temperamental control.
