Photos: Samsung Tocco Ultra hands-on

At Mobile World Congress, Samsung showed off its 8-megapixel Tocco Ultra camera phone, and we got a chance to put fingerprints all over it

The Omnia HD isn't the only 8-megapixel camera phone that Samsung showed off here at Mobile World Congress -- the smaller, 8-megapixel, quad-band Tocco Ultra (or Ultra Touch S8300 as it's also known) got some face time as well, and with the greatest face at the show: ours.

It's got GPS and photo geotagging, a sweet 71mm (2.8-inch), 240x400-pixel AMOLED touchscreen, autofocus camera lens with a twin LED flash, support for DivX, Xvid, H.264, MPEG-4 and WMV video files, MP3, WMA and AAC music -- including iTunes Plus downloads -- stereo Bluetooth, a front-facing secondary camera for video calling and 80MB of internal memory, expandable up to 8GB with microSD cards.

We've got to admit this isn't the most exciting phone on the show floor, but it's got all the makings of a perfectly likable high-end handset: the screen is super-sharp and video looks great, it's well-designed and good to hold, the keypad is decent and the high-resolution camera will send smashing geotagged pics up to Flickr over a 7.2Mbps HSDPA data connection.

And, like the Omnia HD, the interface is attractive and highly customisable, with widgets on the home screen.

Expect a UK lauch in the next few months, with prices and networks to be announced. A bunch of extra hands-on photos await you over the next few pages.

Shown is the 8-megapixel camera around the back. Its hidden when the phone is slid shut, unfortunately.
