Replacing the older Treo 700p, the Palm Treo 755p not only sports two new fresh colors, but it also features a more compact design and introduces a collection of small but notable enhancements, including an instant messaging app and Google Maps for Mobile.

Unlike the vibrant color options of the Palm Treo 680, the Treo 755p is available in an understated burgundy or midnight blue that may be more suitable for business users hoping to add a bit of personalization to their smart phone.

On the right spine, you'll find an infrared port and a miniSD expansion slot, while there's a volume rocker and user-programmable shortcut key on the left side.

As with all the latest Treos, the bottom of the 755p has a 2.5mm headset jack and a multiconnector port.

While the Treo 755p is slightly smaller than the 700p, it's definitely thicker and bulkier than other full-QWERTY devices, such as the Samsung BlackJack and the RIM BlackBerry Curve.

You can also navigate the smart phone with the controls beneath the display. You get Talk and End keys, a four-way toggle with a central select button and shortcut keys to the phone app, calendar, messages, and home page.

As a result, it'll add some weight to your load and will definitely make for a tight fit in a pants pocket.

We're glad the Treo 755p didn't follow in the Treo 680's footsteps and upgraded to a 1.3-megapixel camera rather than a VGA camera. However, without a flash or any way to tweak the camera's settings, it produced some gray-looking pictures.

One of the advantages of the Palm Treo has always been its bright touch screen. The ability to enter data, launch apps, and navigate the device via the touch screen is very convenient.

The Treo 755p's QWERTY keyboard is a bit cramped, especially compared to the Motorola Q or the Cingular 8525, but it gets easier to use with some practice.

The Treo 755p has about 60MB of user-accessible memory, but for large files like music and videos, use a miniSD card. The device's expansion slot can accept up to 4GB capacity cards.
