Maybe not. But Associate Editor Jasmine France, who's tired of the iPod bogarting all the third-party add-ons, decided to embark on a mission to get two Creative Zen players to work with a slew of "Made for iPod" accessories. Some attempts were more successful than others.
Not so much. The Canvas Sport snaps all the way closed in the back, securing the Vision:M completely inside, but the circular control access doesn't allow for easy access to all of the player's controls. Still, you could force it if you really wanted to.
We have a winner! The Logitech mm32 doesn't even have an iPod connector (though it does come with snap-on adapters specifically for the ubiquitous player), and it has an adjustable back for securing just about any MP3 player. And just look at how nicely it matches this Zen!
It looks like speakers are the best bet when it comes to forcing iPod accessories to work with the Creative Zen and other MP3 players. Nearly all of them have an auxiliary line-input, which means even if you can't fit a player in the cradle, you can still play music through the speakers. And that's good enough for us.
This is one hefty armband--except for the slim iPod Nano slot. We really had to shove the Zen V Plus in there. The screen opening isn't large enough for the player's screen, and there's a lot of excess room at the bottom, but you can access the controls fairly well.
Ah, success! It looks like we have a winner in designer cases, which tend to forgo functionality (that is, openings for the iPod's controls) in favor of style. Score one for the fashionista!
It's hard not to laugh at this one--and not just because this case is completely ridiculous, anyway. We used the 80GB iPod version and still couldn't get the Disko anywhere near shut.
The iBlast has auxiliary line-input and a fitting that snaps over the standard iPod connector to protect it, so you can use other MP3 players with the unit and not worry about damaging it. Too bad the iBlast's subpar audio quality is a total waste of the Vision:M's musical abilities.
