Pantech Perception joins Verizon's midrange Android lineup
Verizon offers a range of high-end phones, but sometimes, a feature-packed midrange device like the Pantech Perception is all you really need.
Pantech's Android style
The Perception runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, with a few of Pantech's custom skins, particularly on the lock screen, in the notifications menu, and in the app tray. I also like the default clock widget.
Edgy style
I see it as an achievement that although Pantech phones never blow the lid off your budget, they also never fall short on design elements. This model has some characteristic edges on the back and a stylized camera module.
Camera close-up
The Perception packs an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with support for 1080p HD video. On the front is a 2-megapixel shooter.
Charge it
The standard-size speaker jack and Micro-USB port await up top.
Shot of color
The power/lock button on the Perception's right side adds a tiny jolt of color to the dark device.
Keep it on the screen
Pantech is following Google's original Android vision of using onscreen controls without any capacitive navigation buttons below the screen.
