Our 5 favorite surprises at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show

The Audi SQ5 came out of nowhere, and it turned out to be a hell of a surprise.

With 354 horsepower on tap, the SQ5 certainly knows how to hustle.

We can't wait to drive it.

The Kia Stinger wasn't a surprise in the sense that everybody knew it was coming from teaser sites and the like.

It was a surprise in the sense that Kia actually built an impressively sexy sport sedan.

Can't we just take this one home?

Toyota's car, again, was not a surprise, per se.

But its dedication to doing something different, at least on the outside, surprised more than a couple of us.

It may not be any more exciting to drive than before, but rest assured, it will still sell like gangbusters.

Nissan's Vmotion 2.0 concept surprised us with a clean look that will hopefully trickle down to actual production models over the next several years.

Suicide doors are always nice, aren't they?

We can do without the silly half steering wheel thing, but the rest is absolutely spot on.

Ford surprised us by announcing firm dates for both the Ranger and Bronco, which will be based on the same chassis.

We'll see the Ranger in 2019, and the Bronco the following year.

Ford also surprised us by having absolutely nothing of interest at its press conference.
