Nvidia's new console lets you play and stream games on your television with high-end graphics and high frame rates from the cloud.

The Nvidia Shield Console and accessories that go with it will let you play Android and console games on your (ideally) big-screen television with high-res graphics and fast frame rates.

Power under the hood

The Nvidia Shield Console will sport the new Nvidia Tegra X1 processor with 256-core Maxwell GPU with 3GB RAM.

It will also be 4K Ultra-HD Ready with 4K playback and capture up to 60 fps.

Many ways to connect

The Shield Console has several modes of input with Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI 2.0, two USB 3.0 slots, Micro-USB 2.0, a Micro SD slot, and an IR Receiver (compatible with Logitech Harmony).

Shield Remote

The Shield Remote will let you watch movies and select other streaming content from the comfort of your couch.

The full setup

The Nvidia Shield and one controller will cost $199 and will be available in May.

Other accessories, such as the Shield Remote and additional controllers will need to be purchased separately.

Controller details

Like most modern game controllers you'll get the standard gamepad, plus two 360 joysticks and the standard four-button layout.
