Nokia E7 (photos)

We've come a long way from the Nokia Communicator days. Check out hands-on photos of the company's latest flagship business smartphone, the Nokia E7.

The Nokia E7 is the company's new flagship business smartphone. The Symbian 3-based device is available unlocked for around $650.

Features

Some highlights of the E7's feature set include a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, an 8-megapixel camera, and 16GB of mass memory.

Design

The E7 shares a similar design to the Nokia N8. It's marginally bigger, but considering that it packs in a full QWERTY keyboard, the fact that it's still pretty compact is remarkable. Unfortunately, the 4-inch AMOLED touch screen has a lower resolution (640x360 pixels) than a lot of the displays on today's high-end smartphones, so it's not the sharpest screen we've seen.

Keyboard

The E7's keyboard is excellent. With a comfortable layout and good-size keys and spacing, we found it very easy to use.

Right side

Without a user-replaceable battery, the SIM card is now located on the right spine of the phone. However, we found it rather difficult to pull out the SIM card tray and ultimately had to use a sharp object to pry it open. Below the SIM slot, there is a volume/zoom switch and a camera key.

Camera

The Nokia E7 has two cameras: an 8-megapixel camera with dual LED flash on back and a VGA camera on front for video calls and self portraits.

Picture quality

Picture quality was great with sharp definition and bright colors. There's also a built-in photo and video editor that you can use to touch up images.
