Super Smash Bros. is back!

You've probably already heard the good news -- Nintendo just announced that a Super Smash Bros. game is coming out for the Nintendo Switch in 2018!

Splatoon 2's Inklings are in Smash Bros, but we don't know much else

What's not clear, however, is if the Nintendo Switch version of Smash Bros. will be a new entry in the series, or an updated port of the version that came out on the Wii U and 3DS. All we know for sure is that it will have Mario, Link from the Legend of Zelda, and the boy and girl Inkling characters from Splatoon.

Splatoon 2 is getting major updates!

Speaking of Splatoon 2, Smash Bros isn't the only thing Nintendo announced during its March 8 Direct livestream! The Inkling's own game is getting a major update.

Splatoon 2's Octo Expansion is a new single-player mode!

This summer, Splatoon 2 will be getting a new single-player campaign! The $19.99 Octo Expansion story mode will follow the adventure of an Octoling through a series of subterranean tests! Complete the challenges, and you'll be able to play as an Octoling character in online multiplayer!

It's also heavily retro themed -- check out that GameCube floating in the background!

Splatoon 2 3.0 in April!

The game is also getting a big free update in April -- adding in three new levels (Camp Triggerfish, Piranha Pit and Wahoo World), as well as 100 pieces of gear and a new maximum rank for hard-core players: Rank X!

ARMS US & Canada Online Open Tournament!

That's not the only Nintendo multiplayer game getting some love either: On March 18, Nintendo will be hosting an online tournament for ARMS, its bizarre telescopic boxing game! Anyone with a copy of the game can play -- and players who don't already own ARMS can try it for free on March 31 in a new "Testpunch" event!

Mario Tennis Aces

The new version of Mario Tennis will have the traditional, simple controls we know and love -- but there are also a ton of special moves and advanced shots added in to give the game an extra layer of depth.

Motion controls, of course!

Nostalgic for Wii Sports? No worries: Mario Tennis Aces will have a casual "Swing Mode" for laid-back gameplay with friends and family.

In Mario Tennis Aces, you can play as a Chain Chomp. I don't think anything else needs to be said.

Kirby StarAllies is out on March 16 -- with a free update coming soon!

The next Kirby game is all about making friends -- letting the hungry pink fluffball team up with in-game enemies. That's pretty cool on its own, but Nintendo is sweetening the pot just a few weeks after release: On March 28th, a free update to the game will let Kirby team up with King DeDe, Metaknight and more!

Classic Kirby characters in Star Allies

The update will even add characters from classic Kirby games, like Rick, Kine and Coo from Kirby's Dream Land 2 and Gooey from Kirby's Dream Land 3!

Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes

Looking for something a bit more hard-core? Nintendo showed off a few minutes of footage from Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes -- which transports the titular hero into the video game world. There, he'll be able to play seven different games, including an action game, a racing game, a puzzle game and more.

Octopath Traveler: No longer just a project

For months, Square Enix's upcoming Switch RPG was known just as "Project Octopath Traveler." Today, the company dropped the "project" part and gave it a release date: July 13, 2018.

Square Enix also announced four new classes for Octopath Traveler: merchant, apothecary, dancer and warrior.

Each of these classes grants their own abilities -- and since each character can equip multiple jobs, it will give players the ability to customize their character to a certain degree.

Dark Souls: Remastered

The remake of From Software's iconic brawler is coming to Nintendo Switch on May 25 -- but if you're new to the franchise, and not sure if it's a fit for you, don't worry. The game will have a free network test later this year to let players try it before buying.

Crash Bandicoot N-Sane Trilogy: July 10

It was almost poetic when Sonic the Hedgehog found his way to a Nintendo console, but Crash Bandicoot? That's just weird.

Still, you can't argue with a good port. Well, you won't be able to on July 10, at least.

Little Nightmares!

Speaking of ports from last year, the charming, yet creepy horror-themed puzzle platformer, Little Nightmares will be coming to Nintendo Switch in May.

Little Nightmares: Complete Edition

If Little Nightmares is too creepy for you, dig up a Pac-Man amiibo. It won't make it any less spooky, but at least it'll be...kind of cute?

Undertale is coming to Switch... eventually!

Undertale, the friendly RPG where nobody has to die -- is a perfect match for the Nintendo Switch. It's a delightful adventure with charm, excellent music and a ton of goofy humor.

And it's going to be on the Switch... eventually. Sadly, neither Nintendo or the game's creators were bold enough to say when. This year? Next? It's a mystery.

South Park: The Fractured, But Whole coming to Nintendo Switch

Nintendo seems like a weird place for the world of South Park -- but it's not surprising these foul-mouthed RPGs are making their way to the portable console. They're actually surprisingly good!

South Park: The Fractured, But Whole launches on Nintendo Switch on April 24.

Okami HD

For the longest time, Okami was the Nintendo Wii exclusive that everybody just had to play. Recently, it was given the HD treatment for modern consoles and PC gamers -- but weirdly, there was no word of the game returning to Nintendo. That changes this summer, when Okami HD comes home to the Nintendo Switch.

Okami HD

Okami got its start with the Nintendo Wii -- so it's only fitting to see the original game's motion controls preserved with the Nintendo Switch Joy-con controllers.

Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido for Switch

Last year's E3 was mostly about showing of Super Mario Odyssey -- but in-between romps through New Donk City, Nintendo paused to show off Sushi Striker: a frantic 3DS game about eating and throwing sushi.

It looked delicious -- and it still does -- but now we know the game is coming to the Nintendo Switch, too. Both versions will release on June 8.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker

Super Mario 3D World was great -- but one of the best things about it was the Toad-themed mini-game levels. Those turned into the Wii U's Captain Toad, which didn't see much life outside of its home console. Thankfully, it's coming to the Switch on July 13!

This mostly looks like a port, but the new version of Captain Toad will have a few new worlds based on Super Mario Odyssey. Welcome to New Donk City!

Luigi's Mansion remake for 3DS!

The original Luigi's Mansion on GameCube was envisioned as a 3D game -- but the accessory that would have given it the illusion of depth never came out. That always felt like a lost piece of gaming history, but it's going to be a reality soon: Luigi's Mansion is being remade for 3DS later this year.

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey

Last year's remake of Mario & Luigi: SuperStar Saga for 3DS must have sold well, because Nintendo is doing it again. This time, it's bringing Bowser's Inside Story to the 3DS -- but it'll be awhile before you can relive this RPG: it won't hit the portable console until sometime in 2019.

Dillon’s Dead-Heat Breakers

Name something cooler than a western, post-apocalyptic armadillo ranger.

Okay, you win. But Dillion's Dead-Heat Breakers looks pretty awesome anyway. It hits the 3DS on May 24 -- but there will be a free demo available on the eShop on May 10.
