Nike Mags: Up close and personal with Marty McFly's self-lacing sneakers
You saw them in "Back to the Future Part II." And now the self-lacing Nike Mags are being raffled off for a good cause.
The so-called Nike Mags -- Marty McFly's power-lacing sneakers from 1989's "Back to the Future Part II" are no longer science fiction.
CNET's Brian Tong got a first-hand look at the Mags at a Nike event in New York City.
Nike is raffling off 100 pairs of the Mags in October to benefit Michael J. Fox Foundation's research into Parkinson's disease.
Marty McFly wannabes can buy as many raffle tickets as they like for $10 each through Nike's app.
But you'll need to hurry, because the raffle ends on October 11, 2016.
Winners will be notified on October 17.
But don't fret if you don't win one of these rarities.
The commercial version of the movie sneakers, known as the HyperAdapt 1.0, go on sale on November 28.
The catch? Nike hasn't yet announced pricing for the HyperAdapts.
So, how much will you pay for the privilege of not having to tie your own laces?
The Mags are faithful replicas of the movie's high-tops, while the HyperAdapts are a more traditional low-top designs.
Yes, the Nike name does light up.
Where you're going, you may not need roads -- but your sneakers will need batteries.
