Nexus 6P is a big, all-metal phone from Google (pictures)

Tuesday, Google announced the Nexus 6P, a follow-up to 2014's Nexus 6. The larger, premium phone has a powerful camera, a fingerprint sensor and other extras.

The Nexus 6P has a fingerprint scanner on the back, called Nexus Imprint. Google promises fast performance and few errors when reading your fingerprint.

Google is using large sensors and a laser focus to help the Nexus 6P's camera take better pictures.

The phone has a 12.3-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera.

The Nexus 6P uses a newer USB Type C cable to charge and transfer data.

Bigger than the Nexus 5X, the Nexus 6P has a 5.7-inch, high-res WQHD AMOLED screen.

The Nexus 6P has an all-metal design and comes in black, white and silver.

Side by side, the Nexus 6P (left) and Nexus 5X aren't too far apart in size.

Both new Nexus phones ship with the latest version of Android, 6.0 Marshmallow.

The phone has front-facing speakers on the top and bottom bezel, which will help give you good quality sound while watching videos or playing games.

Following the trend of other smartphones these days, the Nexus 6P is thin.

The phone is built by Asian manufacturer Huawei, which has a subtle logo on the back.

Bigger than the Huawei marking, though, is the Nexus logo, which spans most of the phone's back.

Nexus Imprint works well with Android Pay, using your fingerprint to authorize payments.

The Nexus 6P is available for pre-order now, starting at $499, £449 and AU$899 for 32GB of storage.
