On Thursday, Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Comics released the new trailer for "Wonder Woman," which hits theaters worldwide in June. This first image from the trailer shows Diana Prince (Gal Gadot), otherwise known as Wonder Woman, in present day walking past the large pyramid at the main entrance to the Louvre Museum.
"I used to want to save the world..."
This photo of Wonder Woman with her friends and allies during World War I shows present-day Diana Prince has an adventurous past.
Themyscira, Sweet Themyscira
Wonder Woman's origin story takes place on the tropical Amazonian island of Themyscira. Here she witnesses something odd falling out of the sky.
Wonder Woman to the rescue
After Captain Steve Trevor (played by Chris Pine) crashes his plane into the water, Diana Prince dives in and saves him from drowning.
Storming the beach of Themyscira
Male troops invade Themyscira and get more than they bargained for when Diana's warrior sisters fight back.
Don't mess with Themyscira women
Themyscira warriors led by General Antiope (Robin Wright) are highly trained in combat, as the soldiers who dare to attack them find out all too quickly.
Jump into battle!
Themyscira warriors are also fearless in their battle techniques, including jumping off cliffs and having a bow and arrow ready to strike an enemy.
Ready, aim, shoot
This Themyscira warrior has her bow and arrow aimed at a target, but will she survive the fall?
Slow-motion bullet fire
As soldiers attack Themyscira, Diana uses her superhuman senses to slowly assess one of their bullets as it moves slowly past her, heading toward one of her sisters in combat.
An impressive backdrop
On Themyscira, Queen Hippolyta holds court in this unusual section of the island.
Queen Hippolyta and Diana listen
Queen Hippolyta (played by Connie Nielsen) asks Capt. Trevor: "What is your mission?"
Capt. Trevor asks for help
Capt. Trevor explains that his mission is to stop the war to end all wars, which comes to be known as World War I.
Back at the base...
Capt. Trevor back at a dusty base camp where his war is in full swing...
What a gas
Chemical weapons were first used in World War I, and testing gas masks was part of making sure soldiers could survive the deadly effects. This gas, however, looks as though it can destroy even the most advanced masks at the time.
Woman of mystery
During the chemical weapon test, a mysterious scarred woman (played by Elena Anaya) shows up. She may end up being a Wonder Woman foe.
'The war can be ours!'
Actor Danny Huston plays a German general on the opposing side who plans on using chemical weapons (most likely mustard gas) on Capt. Trevor's fellow soldiers.
Under siege!
The scarred woman working for the Germans throws a grenade into the American base.
Kaboom!
Clearly, the Germans have weapons the American troops will have a devil of a time competing with, unless they can find a secret weapon of their own.
Meanwhile, in paradise...
Back on Diana's island home, things may be peaceful but unrealistic for the restless warrior who wants to help Capt. Trevor.
Can Queen Hippolyta be convinced?
The queen would rather stay out of the war that doesn't concern her or her subjects. She has no time for men and their fight against each other.
Diana wants to help Capt. Trevor
"I cannot stand by while innocent lives are lost," Diana tells her queen.
Suit up!
Diana grabs her shield and armor before leaving the island to help Capt. Trevor. "Be careful, Diana," Queen Hippolyta warns.
"Who is this woman?"
Capt. Trevor tries to pass Diana off as his secretary while she's in disguise.
Hands up!
It takes a brave man to aim a gun at Trevor when the captain's with Diana Prince.
Bracelets to the rescue
Diana protects Capt. Trevor from gunfire with her bullet-deflecting bracelets.
Diana is ready to help
"It is our sacred duty to save the world," Diana says in the narration. Even in disguise, she'll be protecting the Allied troops.
Wonder Woman to the rescue
Diana is ready to for action in the trenches, wearing her signature armored costume and Wonder Woman tiara.
Best bling ever
Wonder Woman's Bracelets of Submission are indestructible cuffs that can deflect gunfire, missiles and other projectile weaponry. They clearly come in handy during battle.
Wonder Woman is the best secret weapon
Wonder Woman heads to the WWI battlefield in her armored suit, carrying her indestructible shield that possesses magical powers perfect for both defense and offense in combat.
Diana knows how to make an entrance
Diana never leaves her sword behind, even when she goes undercover to a dance as Capt. Trevor's date.
Glowing lasso in action
Wonder Woman's Lasso of Truth, which is also unbreakable, glows as she uses it in battle. The lasso's magical properties make it a formidable weapon.
The all-powerful Bracelets of Submission
Wonder Woman is famous for her magical weaponry, but the metal bracelets that protect her are the DC Comics' superhero's most beloved accessory.
Fashion over fighting?
At the end of the trailer, Diana is perplexed how women can fight while wearing such restrictive clothing.
