New home projectors from Sony, JVC, and Epson (pictures)
Sony, Epson, and JVC have announced new projectors for the home. All are brighter than their predecessors, some are 4K, and one has lasers.
Epson big screen
At the CEDIA Expo last week, Sony, Epson and JVC all announced new projectors. Some are shipping now, some are shipping soon.
With up to 6,000 lumens, the Pro G Series could easily create an image this big.
This looks just like my house in every way except for the wall, location, pool, color, and everything else you see in the image.

Epson G6970WU
With 6,000 claimed lumens, the G6970WU is one of the brightest projectors you can buy for $10,000 or less.
In a home
It's telling that one of the images Epson released with the Pro G Series is one of a brightly-lit living room. You'd need a lot of lumens to watch a projector in this room with that much light.
Epson G6570WU
The 6970's "little" brother "only" has 5,200 lumens. Still more than the $60,000 Sony laser projector -- though that projector has more resolution, a higher contrast ratio, wider color, and more.
Epson 4855WU
If you still want tons of light but don't need the interchangeable lens options of the Pro G Series (or its price), the 4855WU has 4,000 lumens and is around $3,000.
Epson 1985
Intended to be wireless and portable, the small 1985 still throws a lot of light: 4,800 lumens.
JVC Reference Series
JVC hasn't changed the look of their projectors in a while, but that's OK, it's what's inside that counts. In the case of the X950R that means a claimed 1,900 lumens and 150,000:1 native contrast ratio.
JVC Procision Series
The Procision Series is the same on the inside as the Reference Series, and almost the same on the outside (they lack the RS's gold highlights).
Sony
Sony, too, hasn't changed the look of its projectors much. The new VPL-VW365ES is $10,000, the lowest-priced new 4K projector.
Sony
The VPL-VW665ES has 1,800 claimed lumens, and is HDR-compatible.
Sony
If you really want to impress your neighbors, the VPL-VW5000 uses a laser light source for P3 color, HDR, and a claimed 5,000 lumens and 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio.
