Neurio makes your circuit breaker smart (pictures)

Neurio is a simple-looking black gizmo that connects to your circuit breaker and delivers real-time energy readings.

One Neurio costs $249 in the US and roughly £160 in the UK (at the current exchange rate).

No availability has been announced for Australia.

It has a complex installation that should be done by an experienced DIYer or a professional.

But, once it's set up, Neurio is easy to use.

It comes with Android and iOS mobile apps as well as a Web app.

Both provide immediate power usage information in watts (W) and energy usage information in kilowatt-hours (kWh).

That way, you can see how much energy you're using at any given time.

And you can also see how much one appliance, light or other device can change the overall reading.

Neurio also shows an itemized usage summary for appliances over 400W, so you can see exactly how your A/C, oven, toaster or other device is affecting your consumption and monthly bill.
