Netgear Arlo Smart Home Security Camera Kit (pictures)

Netgear's CEO Patrick Lo unveiling the Arlo Home Secuirty Camera at an event in San Francisco. This is a completely wireless home circuity camera solution capable of delivering 720p video quality.

The Arlo is a palm-sized, battery- operated wireless camera.

An Arlo Home Security Camera kit includes two cameras and a wireless hub.

You can add more cameras to the hub. Each hub supports up to 15 Arlo cameras.

Each camera can house four RC128 batteries, though it needs only two to operate. With all four batteries, Netgear says the camera can operate up to 6 months.

The camera is magnetized and can be easily mounted on the included metal base.

Each camera includes two bases.

The hub connects to an existing home network via an Ethernet port. It also comes with USB ports for future features.

The hub connects to the camera using a customized version of 802.11n Wi-Fi standard with the top speed of just 6Mbps. Its range, however, remains the same as that of 802.11n, up to 150 (45 meters) feet.

The Arlo camera offers the resolution up to 720p with using very high compression to transmit the footage.

It support motion detection as well as night vision, and can send alert to mobile devices.

Users can easily monitor their homes via mobile deivces using any popular platform, as well as via a Web browser.

Recording videos are uploaded directly to Netgear's online storage, but you can also view live images. Currently there's no option to store recorded video locally.

The camera is water-proof and can be easily placed outdoor.

The Netgear Arlo Smart Home Security Camera kit is available in Jansury 2015 and cost $350. You can also get additonal cameras for $170 each.
