Limited Edition
Though there are some nice design elements in the Motorola VE440 music phone offered by MetroPCS, only the Limited Edition opens the door to edgy visuals, like this wallpaper designed by an Los Angeles artist known as Mister Cartoon.
Musical edge
Look closely and you can see that the Motorola VE440 has an asymmetrical face. It's as if the right spine has been smeared up toward the screen, leaving an angled ledge outfitted with easy-to-find music playback controls.
Turn it up
The VE440's volume rocker sits on the left spine, along with a shortcut key and charger port. Unfortunately, hiking up the volume won't do much if the sound quality dives, as it sometimes did in our tests.
Smart size
We're fans of the bubbly, plastic keys, which give the dialpad a roomier feel.
Candy bar phones are typically well-sized for pockets and palms. The Motorola VE440 is no exception.
