This was a clever spot but the back story leading up to its showing is all the more delish. The spot spoofs the Mayan calendar's predicted 2012 doomsday scenario where, according to the General Motors ad, survival is linked to driving a Chevrolet Silverado (naturally.) A day earlier, Ford protested, demanding that GM not put the ad on the air and remove it from the Internet. Why? In the commercial, the guy who drove a Ford F-150 pickup was the lone person who failed to show up at a rendezvous point after the world as we know it came to an abrupt end. Click
