Mad Max: Fury Road

Considering that many fans saw the '80s "Mad Max" films on VHS tapes, this retro art by artist Steelberg for 2015 "Mad Max: Fury Road" reboot would blend in nicely with the original starring Mel Gibson.

The 2016 "Ghostbusters" female-led reboot proved that fans of the original 1984 movie had nothing to worry about. But this VHS art for the reboot actually makes the movie look like a bonafide horror classic.

This VHS art for the movie "Warcraft, which came out in 2016, looks like it would appeal more to Renaissance faire fans than modern gamers.

The Revenant

Even though the Oscar-winning movie "The Revenant" just came out in 2015, this VHS art makes it look right at home with any violent '70s film about man vs. nature.

Pacific Rim

Director Guillermo del Toro's 2013 giant monster flick "Pacific Rim" looks even more like an homage to the original Godzilla movies from the '60s and '70s.

The Hateful Eight

Director Quentin Tarantino's 2015 "The Hateful Eight" paid tribute to the spaghetti westerns of the '70s, and this VHS cover art could easily be confused with a gritty Sam Peckinpah cowboy flick.

The Martian

Anyone who's searched for the perfect sci-fi film while walking through the aisles at Blockbuster video-rental stores knows that VHS art made all the difference. This art for the 2015 movie "The Martian" perfectly captures the loneliness and wonder a left-behind astronaut feels throughout the film.

"Armada" isn't even a movie yet. It's the latest science fiction novel by Ernest Cline. But when it does finally get released, here's hoping the movie poster looks a lot like this "Last Starfighter"-inspired VHS art.

One can't have a zombie movie without buckets of blood. This VHS movie art reminds horror fans that while the 2009 film "Zombieland" had its funny moments, these zombies are nightmare-worthy.

Rocky Balboa has been around since the '70s, so giving the 2015 "Creed" movie the same kind of "Rocky" VHS art makes for a knockout tribute.

Superhero movies like 2016's "Deadpool" need something a little special to remind fans that he's not the typical kind of crime fighter. This VHS art shows Deadpool's less attractive side.

Stranger Things

The 2016 Netflix original TV series "Stranger Things" mixes elements of '80s sci-fi adventure classics such as "Goonies," "E.T." and "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," and this VHS cover art reflects that.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

"Rogue One," which debuts December 2016, tells the Star Wars tale from even longer ago than "A New Hope," so the VHS art here reminds fans of the original VHS art for the film that started it all in 1977.
