Cobra's CPP portable power series

There's no dread like the dread you feel when your smartphone battery has been drained of all its juice. At this year's CES, Cobra showcased three new products that work to solve this common problem: the CPP 50, CPP 100, and CPP 300.

Ideal for camping and the outdoors, Cobra's solar chargers ensure that you can still power up your mobile devices without the luxury of electric outlets. (Just make sure it's a sunny day.) It will be available to users starting in February, with the 100 and 300 costing $49.95, and $79.95, respectively. In April, the CPP 50 will go on sale for $39.95.

Martian Notifier

If you're looking for a smartwatch that does slick smartphone notifications on the sly, check out the new $129.99 Martian Notifier. Announced and shown for the first time at CES 2014, this analog timepiece looks like a traditional ticker at first glance. You'd be mistaken though since the Notifier can display phone-based alerts as you get them via its side-scrolling OLED.

Yellow Jacket stun-gun case

The Yellow Jacket stun gun case first showed up as an Indiegogo fundraising project back in the middle of 2012. That original model reached the world in early 2013, but a major redesign for the iPhone 5 and 5S landed at CES.

The Yellow Jacket is always going to be a bit divisive. If you're the kind of person who would carry a stun gun anyway, then this may be the case for you. If you're not, then you might just shake your head at the idea and move along.

Antimicrobial NueVue case

Now here's a good idea: a phone and tablet case that looks good, won't drain your wallet, and kills germs.

This sums up the NueVue case for iPhone (4 through 5S) and iPad (Mini, too.) An antimicrobial-coated microfiber liner delivers the two-in-one pow that simultaneously wipes gunk off your phone screen and kills bacteria over time.

Olloclip 4-in-1 photo lens for iPad

People use their tablets as cameras. A lot.

You can shake your head, snicker, and laugh at them, and sure, when they're blocking your view at a CES press conference you maybe want to punch them in the head. But they do it, and that's that.

It's a fact Olloclip, maker of several photo lenses for the iPhone and iPod Touch, couldn't really ignore since its fans were regularly requesting an iPad version. Olloclip wasn't entirely sure it wanted to encourage iPad photography, but when the latest Apple tablets were announced, it moved forward with a 4-in-1 photo lens for the iPad Air, iPad mini with Retina display, and iPad mini.
