Apple is absent, but the show must go on at the 2010 Macworld Conference & Expo in San Francisco.
Macworld 2010
A few thousand attendees descended on Moscone Center in San Francisco this week for the Macworld Conference & Expo, but there is something missing from this year's show: Apple.
Without the opening keynote by Apple CEO Steve Jobs, who introduced the iPhone at Macworld 2007, the event seems to be lacking some of the sparkle it once had, but, as they say, the show must go on.
There was still plenty to see, though: flashy cases for your iPhone or iPod, as well as speakers and headphones.
Braile-like touchscreen for iPhone
Like to feel the grooves of the keys on your phone? The 4iThumbs is a thin film with ridges that snaps on to the front of your touch screen, giving the digital keys a physical feel.
Scosche
Crowds gather around the Scosche booth in Moscone North, checking out some of the many cases, accessories and speakers made for iPods and iPhones.
Hard Candy
Even before it's release, companies have begun producing cases and accessories for the iPad, which is set to go on sale by the end of March.
Moscone North
The crowds are thick in Moscone's North Hall, where exhibitors display and sell their latest Mac accessories.
Targus iPad case
This soft leather case from Targus is yet another iPad accessory already available, even before the device itself has gone on sale.
The Show WX Laser Pico Projector attaches to iPhones or iPods and let's you project a larger view of movies from your device onto a wall.
Touch gloves
Problems using your touch screen with gloves on? the iTouch Gloves uses TouchTec technology to let you touch, tweet and text without removing your gloves.
Smart painting
This device from SMART attaches to any LCD screen and let's you use your finger, or even a brush to paint directly on the screen.
Miscosoft Office for MAC
Word, Excel, Entourage and PowerPoint get crazy on the expo floor.
Uncommon
Uncommon creates custom iPhone cases by taking user submitted images and molding them directly into the plastic shell.
Expo floor view from above
The expo floor at Macworld, which is usually dominated by the imposing Apple booth is instead filled with many smaller companies, which got more attention with Apple's absence.
HyperMac
The HyperMac Nano, Mini, and Micro provide a USB-powered battery backup in colorful designs.
