The LG G7 ThinQ, LG's newest phone, has a heap of hardware and software skills. You'll find a dual camera that can automatically apply the right settings for your scene. There's also waterproofing, wireless charging and, yes, a headphone jack.
The phone has a 6.1-inch IPS LCD display.
It's tall and slim, with thin bezels on the top of the display.
The phone comes in pink and blue (pictured here) as well as gray and black.
Looking at the front of both LG G7 color variants.
The phone measures 6 by 2.8 by 0.31 inches (153 by 72 by 7.9 mm).
Unlike LG G phones of years past, the fingerprint button on the back does not work as a sleep or power button. Instead, that has been moved to the right edge.
The phone has a single speaker (though LG claims it's louder than the G6 due to an inner resonance chamber), a USB-C port and a headphone jack.
The phone is glossy on the back and attracts fingerprint smears.
The fingerprint reader is below the dual cameras.
Up top is a SIM card tray that also holds external memory.

...and the bottom edge.
Like lots of new Android phones, the LG G7 has an iPhone X-style notch.
You can turn this notch off, however, and blacken out the sides that flank it.
The G7 has two 16-megapixel cameras on the back.
There are many photo modes, including auto, manual and panorama.
More settings on the G7's camera.
The G7 has a few new camera tricks, but one standout feature is its emphasis on artificial intelligence.
The camera identifies more than a thousand objects and images, recognize scenes into eight different categories and apply 18 kinds of photo settings.
So if you're snapping photos of fruit, a cityscape, a flower or just whatever, it'll recognize it and adjust accordingly.
These features fold into LG's whole "ThinQ" smart devices branding.
The camera can also sense when the environment is too dark and will let you know it can turn up the brightness levels.
On the front is an 8-megapixel camera.
LG made it more straightforward to snap portrait photos, whether or not you're using the rear or front-facing shooter.
Though you technically could have taken these bokeh-style photos with blurred background on the G6 using manual configurations, with the G7 you just have to tap to the mode and snap a photo.
Another look at the LG G7.
The G7 has a hotkey on the left for Google Assistant, similar to Samsung's button for its Bixby assistant on Galaxy phones.
The G7 is the first phone to have its own button for Assistant and it's not customizable.
Just like the Pixel 2 phones when you squeeze their sides, only Assistant launches. You can't make it open something else.
The LG G7 is also waterproof.
It's rated IP68, meaning you can dunk it in about 3 feet (1 meter) of water for 30 minutes and it'll survive.
The phone has wireless charging as well.

As a high-end Android phone, the G7's toughest competitor will be the Galaxy S9, which launched in March.
If pricing remains the same as the G6, you can expect the G7 to likely cost a little less than the Galaxy S9, however.
