LG G Pad X8.3 pairs basic design with extraordinary features (pictures)

It's rare to see a tablet with a full USB port, stylus, or IR blaster. The LG G Pad X8.3 packs all three.

Metallic back

The G Pad X8.3's aluminum back panel has a smooth metallic finish that looks stylish and feels nice against your fingertips.

Slim, not thin

It's not the thinnest or lightest tablet around, but the LG is still fairly lightweight and comfortable to hold.

Something to write home about

The stylus works well for jotting down quick notes or writing gibberish for fun, but don't expect anything as fancy as the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1.

Sly stylus

If you don't have any nails, the stylus might be hard to pull out of its hiding place.

Small and sharp screen

The 8.3-inch isn't overwhelmingly bright or colorful, but it's vibrant enough for enjoying HD video and binging on Netflix.

One slot, two cards

The SIM and MicroSD cards sit next to each other on the left edge.

Back to the back

The rear camera has a sharp focus, but only in bright environments.

Sign me up

If you don't mind a 2-year contract, the LG G Pad X8.3 is a steal for $129.

At the retail $299 price, however, it is not. If you have that kind of money to spend, I suggest upgrading to the Dell Venue 8 7000.
